What's New @ Eckert Machines

Behind the Scenes at Eckert Machines

Every successful team is made up of dedicated and coordinated team players.
We are proud to introduce you to Team ECKERT Machines' inside/support crew: the wonderfully helpful ladies who you will most likely ‘meet’ first when contacting ECKERT Machines.

Sandra Fajta joined ECKERT Machines in 1999. From her legal secretary background, she started with the basics: correspondence, paperwork, reception.  But, being a go-getter, and full of energy and ideas, Sandra soon took on a more active Sales role. She has participated in equipment shows, and some supplier training opportunities. She handles correspondence and quotes, and whatever else is needed to help make ECKERT Machines more effective for our customers and suppliers.  Sandra coordinates all shipping and Customs details, to make sure that goods travel safely and efficiently from source to destination.  With her bilingual upbringing (French/English), Sandra has been a great help to our French-speaking customers.  Plus, she likes selling, and takes on many projects herself, relying on the ‘outside sales guys’ to support her sales efforts.  That’s Teamwork!

Shirley Sheldon and Sandra Fajta

Shirley Sheldon joined the ECKERT team early in 2007, to look after the books, a pretty important function, to keep us all running smoothly.  Shirley’s keen attention to detail and quick grasp of numbers, comes into play as she works through our accounts, keeping everything on track. With Shirley’s multi-national background, foreign exchange and currency conversions are second nature to her.  While still pretty new to the team, Shirley is quickly finding her way among our broad range of customers, suppliers and products.

Both ladies have a strong positive outlook and great sense of humour.
They are a pleasure to work with; we count on them every day, and you can too!
They look forward to hearing from you soon.

"Washing 101"

For over 80 years, and with an even longer family history of food processing, OLNEY has provided simple, proven, reliable machinery for washing, cleaning, grading, snipping and trimming many food products. With evolving demands of the processor marketplace, OLNEY has adapted their proven technologies to meet new needs.  At the heart of the OLNEY stable, we offer you some insight into the basics of thorough, yet gentle, product washing, we call it: ‘Washing 101’…

Olney GP 40 Washer

OLNEY washers, whether flotation, foaming (aka froth), destoning or flood, all use the same wide-open gentle product handling principles. Olney washers are designed for closed loop water handling, to minimize water usage. Water is held in a reservoir and recirculated through the machine via pumps, valves and screened recovery systems.  Your product never passes through a pump. Your product is introduced into a full width flow of cushioning water, and carried forward into the cleaning process.  This flow protects the product from the jolting and jamming effects often seen in other conventional washers.  Whether your product needs a simple gravity separation from foreign materials, or a more thorough foam cleaning to separate finer product particles, you can count on Olney for effective yet gentle cleaning, and at a productive capacity. In a properly tuned OLNEY washer, the only water you add is via a fine, user-controllable rinse spray on the product at the discharge.

Products handled in OLNEY washers: beans (green, waxed, dry/soaked, a wide range of varieties, from the small lentil to the oversized lima or fava); peas, corn, peanuts, potatoes, beets, pasta, blueberries, cranberries, shrimp, cherries, clams, mushrooms, virtually any product that can be gravity separated from its impurities.

Vanmark Equipment LLC

VanmarkIn July/07, GROTE Co, of Columbus, OH acquired Vanmark Corporation.  This brings a new level of commitment to product development at Vanmark.  Vanmark has long been an industry leader in scrubbing and peeling systems, primarily for potatoes and other root and fruit crops.  Grote is a leading supplier of precision slicing machinery, with emphasis on ‘slice-and-place’ technology (such as for pizza and sandwich making). The new Vanmark Equipment LLC will continue the leadership tradition started as the Vanmark Corporation for many years to come.

NEW! Vanmark Series 2900 Peeler/Scrubber

For over 30 years, Vanmark’s Series 2700 (aka Model 27) has been the standard of the industry in J-bed type scrubbers, copied by many, equaled by none. Now, after much consultation with processors, and understanding their evolving needs, VANMARK has retired the Series 2700 in favour of the Series 2900.

Vanmark Model 2920 Peeler/Scrubber/Washer

The BIG differences:

  • Visually, WOW! Rounded frame construction for better sanitation, product flow and service access.
  • Mechanically: simpler design = less parts = lower operating/maintenance cost = more reliability = more productivity = more profitable operation for the processor.
  • Maintenance free stainless steel drive case provides more reliability; lower running cost.
  • Productivity/Performance: Natural flow discharge increases efficiency and yield. And with no moving parts, it helps to further reduce maintenance and increase uptime.

Do you need to improve scrubber performance and reliability, and reduce operating costs? Of course you do. Contact ECKERT Machines for help with your application.
